September 2009. Welcome to CRIPPLE BASTARDS' official homepage. No big news in the inner sections, we mainly updated the discography (story of/about) adding the new album + "Blackmails and assholism" double dvd, updated the bio in English and added a bunch of new items to the merchandising page fixing all the links to our web-store, that was previously out of function due to an hacking attack.

>> CRIPPLE BASTARDS "Variante alla morte" CD/LP out now!

CB's 4th full length CD "Variante alla morte" is out now on FETO Records/UK, distributed by Plastic Head. Here's the introductive quote the label wrote about it followed by some of the most significant reviews around: "CRIPPLE BASTARDS were formed 20 years ago in Northern Italy and have made a name for themselves as one of the fiercest bands on the planet. "Variante Alla Morte", mixed by Fredrik Nordström (DIMMU BORGIR, IN FLAMES, HAMMERFALL), continues down the path of brutality that fans of the band have come to know and love".

"20 years after their inception, Italy's finest exponents of grindcore bile still haven't learnt to chillax - as "Variante alla morte" proves. Packed with short, spazzed out anthems of hate but this time out they're transformed by Fredrik Nordström's production". (Kerrang)

"By no means an unknown band - hell, there's a tribute album in their honour - Cripple Bastards have for whatever reason been marginalized by many rather than recognized for being one of the greatest Grindcore bands on Earth" (Metal Maniacs, USA)

"Granted, much of "Variante alla morte" sounds like Napalm Death crossed with Cryptic Slaughter captured in a Swedish recording studio, but Cripple Bastards lessen the blow of unoriginality with an avalanche of granite-solid material" (Decibel Mag, USA)

"Compared to past recordings, "Variante.." is catchier and holds down a consistant and solid groove, but is just as ruthlessly violent." (Terrorizer Mag, UK)

"Monumental Grindcore, majestic in the rhythm-riff interlocking, lead by Giulio the Bastard in a disgorge of antisocial, antihuman, anti-all lyrics" (Metal Maniac Italy)

>> CRIPPLE BASTARDS' "Age of vandalism" 4 x CD box set out now on Self Made God Records!!!

After being announced (and delayed) for years, CB's collective "Age of vandalism" 4 x CD is OUT NOW on Poland's top extreme label Self Made God Records. A deluxe digipak boxset featuring remastered versions of ALL the Cripple Bastards’ tapes released from 1988 to 1993 plus an incredible amount of unreleased tunes drawing the complete history of the Bastards on tape. This includes the four official demos, the split 7” with Violent Headache session (with extra unreleased tracks!), the whole 1988-1991 collection, all side projects, and basically HOURS of unreleased noise including pre-Cripple Bastards blurr-thrash from 1986! A jump back to the late 1980s/early 1990s ultra-DIY noisecore spirit made of tape traders, cult labels like TNT & Records and Psychomania, and ear-damaging bands releasing zillions of tracks on terrific lo-fi demos, not giving a damn about studio productions and “I can’t hear the snare”-type pedant asses. 1,036 SONGS IN TOTAL—YOU ARE WARNED!

USA's Decibel Mag gave it 9/10 and reviewed it as it follows:

The Age Of Vandalism box set compiles the output of Italian grindcore act Cripple Bastards from 1987 to 1993. It spreads 1,036 songs across four lavish digipacks. Can you imagine MP3-tagging that sonofabitch? Luckily, a CD can only hold 99 tracks, so the box set bunches up wads of songs into tracks. Ergo, track titles like "94 song demo, Nov. 1992" and "Side B of 'From 88 to 91' collection tape (281 songs!)"
But this isn't just "You Suffer" for hours. Sure, it's a rush to hear micro-songs fly by. But this collection of filth is surprisingly compelling. Much of it comes from when Cripple Bastards were a two-piece. When teenage delinquents Giulio the Bastard and Alberto the Crippler weren't terrorizing their hometown of Asti with vandalism, they were vomiting their frustrations on tape. Grunts, screams, blast beats, Italian horror movie samples, even a show bootlegged by cassette 'from the back of the audience' - it's a hell of a mudbath.
The liner notes are even better: a booklet for each digipak, plus a big, thick one for the set. They include essays, flyers, historical photos, demo tape artwork and incredibly soulful, thoughtful interviews. Age of Vandalism is really a giant audiovisual zine tat documents the early history of Italian grindcore. Cripple Bastards are a bona fide band now; they construct music, and they do it well. But back then they deconstructed their existence with tape recorders, Xerox machines and even an axe. This box set is their amazing legacy. (Cosmo Lee)

Cripple Bastards have just started to write songs for a new album, in the meantime we'll try to bring to light some releases that have been kept on hold for years. Here's the main stuff planned:

>> CRIPPLE BASTARDS "Live to hate people 1+2" LP
as far as Massacro Records from Milano/Italy is RIP, we thought to release "Live to hate people 2" (including our Rovereto 2005 set that ended into a savage riot) along with a remastered version of the previous issue (1997-1998) and put them together on a full length LP with a completely new unreleased layout. This will see the light on Haunted Hotel Rec/NYC someday in 2009.

>> CRIPPLE BASTARDS / NETJAJEV SS Split 6"
Believe it or not we have all masters and artworks ready, so expect this to come out someday in 2010 on Rescued From Life Records.

>> CRIPPLE BASTARDS "Misantropo a senso unico" 10 Year Anniversary Special Edition
"Misantropo a senso unico" is with no doubt CB's most classic record of the first decade featuring Alberto the Crippler on guitar, and it has gained a real cult-status through the years, especially in Italy. The original Ampex reels have been wandering for years in recording studios in Torino and for some time we even thought they were lost. We finally found them and they are safe at GTB's home. We are planning on remixing the album track by track from the original tape with direct supervision of CB's members, giving it a way more impactrful and updated sound, even if its original filthiness and bad production are kinda part of its success. Wait and see. This will be released once again by Self Made God Records with special packaging and hopefully some extra marerial.

>> CRIPPLE BASTARDS - all covers album
In 1994 - way before the retro-DisPunk retro-Thrash revivals, Germany's noise/grind/thrash label "Ecocentric Records" released a Cripple Bastards' 7" called "Frammenti di vita" featuring all covers of '80s Italian HC/Punk butchered by the bastards... Wretched, Negazione, Impact, Nabat, Indigesti and so on. We have always wished to record a follow-up but we never made it. 2010 seems to be the lucky year, as we ave already started to rehearse the covers that will appear on this new chapter. This time it's going to be a full length album and it'll also include our homage to Italy's Thrash-speed metal of the '80s (Schizo, Necrodeath, Jester Beast) + many more surprises that will be announced later!
